NAIIA Members Support Fat Guy in Shorts Golf Tourney

The NAIIA is happy to report on an annual charity golf tournament put on by one of our member firms from Arizona, 2B Claim Services.  The Fat Guys in Shorts Tournament was held on September 22, 2018 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ.

The event was sponsored by several NAIIA members including CJ Hester, SGD, Norcross and AmeriClaim. Several of our members played in the event - Peter Schifrin, Peter Crosa and Beth Crosa. They were happy to survive the Scottsdale heat!

Fat Guys in Shorts began in 2010 to support, Jerry Anzalone, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in the fall of 2009.  The first two years of Fat Guys in Shorts was dedicated to helping Jerry and his family with mounting medical bills and out of pocket expenses.

In September 2011, Jerry lost his battle with cancer, but Fat Guys in Shorts continued to support Jerry’s two young boys, Alex and Cameron, with their college tuition.  With the help of Fat Guys in Shorts charitable donations, Alex graduated from Arizona State University in 2017 with a degree in Business Administration and Cameron is in his 3rd year at Arizona State University and is expected to graduate in 2019.

Fat Guys in Shorts is now Fat Guys in Shorts Foundation. The Fat Guys in Shorts Foundation recently obtained their 501(c)(3) accreditation through the Arizona Corporation Commission and is continuing their focus on providing college scholarships to other children, within the insurance claims industry, who have lost a parent unexpectedly.

Next year’s event will be held in October 2019.  Members can visit the website at www.fatguysinshorts.com for updates. Plan to attend or become a sponsor.
